Dream: Traffic-free Dhaka and employment for students—Outline of a digital revolution (Project: SmartCity Traffic Patrol)

Introduction

The biggest curse of our city is traffic congestion, one of the main reasons for which is illegal parking. On the other hand, thousands of talented students are struggling to pay for their education. I am thinking of a dream—a system that will solve these two big problems at once. I am leaving this article as a blueprint. If I am not able to implement it, I hope that future generations or someone concerned will use this idea to move the country forward.

The Problem

About 40% of the roads in Dhaka city are occupied by illegal parking. The traffic police can't monitor every alley. Again, there are often allegations of a lack of transparency and corruption in the manual collection of fines.

My proposed solution: SmartCity Traffic Patrol (SCTP)

This is an app-based system in which ordinary students will serve as 'traffic volunteers'. There will be no need for any police here; the entire work will be done through technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

How the system will work (Workflow)

1. Registration: Students will register on this app using their university ID card.

2. Reporting: If a student sees any illegal parking on the road, they will take a photo of the car through the app. The app will automatically record the GPS location and time.

3. AI Verification: The app's artificial intelligence will verify whether the place is a 'no-parking zone' and whether the car's number plate is correct.

4. Automatic fine: Since it is connected to the BRTA server, a fine message of 5000 taka (for example) will be sent to the car owner's mobile immediately.

5. Reward system: Once the car owner pays the fine, 50% of that money (2500 taka) will go directly to the digital wallet of the reporting student. The remaining 50% will be deposited in the government treasury.

Technical Architecture

For the convenience of those who will build it in the future, I have highlighted its technical aspects below:

Frontend: Mobile App (React Native/Flutter), which will access GPS and camera.

Backend: AI Engine (OCR and Computer Vision), which will analyze the images.

Integration: BRTA Database and Payment Gateway (Bikash/Nagad/Bank) API.

Security: The reporter's name and identity will be fully encrypted.

Impact of this system

Corruption-free society: There will be no opportunity to pay bribes due to the absence of human intervention.

Unemployment elimination: A student can earn a good monthly income by reporting 2 times a day, which will help cover his education expenses and support his family.

Government Revenue: The government will earn huge revenue without hiring any additional workforce.

Chain traffic: People will stop parking their cars in random places for fear of fines, which will reduce traffic congestion.

Conclusion

This is not just an app; it is an idea for a social movement. The proper use of technology can improve our quality of life. I have left this idea of mine as 'open source'. Only if someone implements it will my idea be successful.

Let's build a disciplined and beautiful Bangladesh with the help of technology.
